Texas will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, this weekend for a men’s college basketball showdown in the Southeastern Conference against Vanderbilt on Saturday at the Memorial Gymnasium. The Texas Longhorns are 15-8 overall this season, and despite only eight losses, six of them have come against SEC teams as they sit just 4-6 in the conference. They are tied with Georgia while sitting a half-game behind No. 22 Mississippi State, No. 14 Kentucky, and Vanderbilt in the conference. They are also five games back from the conference-leading No. 1-ranked Auburn.

Last weekend, they opened up February with a big road win at LSU, beating them 89-58. Tre Johnson dropped a team-high 18 points of 7-of-13 shooting and a team-high five assists. Earlier this week, they lost to Arkansas at home in Austin by eight points. Johnson has a game-high performance in the loss with 25 points and four assists. Arthur Kaluma had 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The Vanderbilt Commodores are 16-6 overall this season, and similar to Texas, despite their record, they are 4-5 against teams in the SEC. Five of their six losses have come in the conference. They are five games behind the conference leader and four games over the winless South Carolina in the conference.

After being ranked No. 24 in the AP Top 25, they have now lost both games to open up February. They went on the road to Norman, Oklahoma, and lost to the Sooners by 30 last weekend. Devin McGlockton led the team and the game with 22 points in the loss. Earlier this week, they lost to No. 6-ranked Florida by 11 points in Gainesville. Jason Edwards led the team with 20 points in that loss.
